NEWS/PR: Building the Future at David Douglas High School - New CTE Facility Nears Completion

David Douglas School District’s 2022 Bond Funded CTE Facility - Construction Time Lapse Video.

A First Look at the New David Douglas High School CTE Facility

The new Career and Technical Education facility at David Douglas High School is nearing completion, and the transformation has been incredible to watch. As work moves into its final stretch, we are excited to share a time lapse from Pence contractors that highlights the energy, craftsmanship, and coordination that has gone into bringing this community investment to life.

Funded by the 2022 bond, the new facility advances the district’s commitment to expanding hands-on learning pathways for students. When doors open in January 2026, students will step into modern labs, specialized equipment areas, and industry-aligned spaces that support real-world experiences and future readiness.

Progress Worth Celebrating

The time lapse captures many elements that can be easy to overlook in day-to-day construction. It shows the evolution of the site from early excavation and utilities to structural framing, to the precise installation of mechanical, electrical, and technology systems. Interior work has progressed quickly, including specialty infrastructure for trades programs, high performing HVAC systems, and durable finishes designed for long term use.

Exterior improvements, including circulation upgrades, lighting, and access enhancements, have also moved rapidly. The result is a facility that supports both student learning and campus safety.

Project Partners Working Together

This milestone reflects the dedication of a large and coordinated team that has helped keep the project on track and aligned with the district’s expectations for quality, safety, and value. Key partners include:

Every partner has played a critical role in ensuring the design supports student programming, the schedule remains efficient, and the project stays within the targeted budget.

What Comes Next

The final phase of construction is underway. Crews are completing interior finishes, technology installations, equipment setup, testing, and commissioning. The remainder of the exterior work will continue.

Once construction wraps, the district will begin preparing the building for instructional use. This includes furniture placement, program equipment calibration, and staff training inside the new labs.

The highly anticipated opening in January 2026 will mark a major step forward for the district’s CTE programming. Students will gain access to spaces designed to reflect real world environments and high demand career fields.

A Proud Moment for the Community

The David Douglas community has a long tradition of investing in opportunities that help students thrive. The new CTE facility is the result of that commitment and a powerful example of what is possible when educators, industry professionals, and the community work together.

We look forward to sharing more updates as the project reaches completion and to celebrating with David Douglas School District students, staff, and families once the new building officially opens next month.
