NEWS/PR: Keeping Communities Connected - Fern Ridge School District Shares Latest Bond Program Progress

When a community invests in its schools, consistent communication becomes just as important as construction itself

We're proud to support Fern Ridge School District as both Owner's Representative in Program, Project, and Communications, helping keep families, staff, and residents informed throughout the district's 2024 Capital Bond Program. Most recently, the district released its August 2026 Bond Project Update, highlighting the significant progress being made as the program enters its final phase.

The latest update celebrates projects nearing completion across the district, including:

  • Fern Ridge Middle School interior renovations, where modern science labs, a new maker lab, music room improvements, special education classrooms, and updated restrooms are all on track for completion before the start of the school year. Despite uncovering additional asbestos, aging utilities beneath the slab, and more extensive mechanical upgrades than anticipated, the project remains below budget and on schedule.

  • Veneta Elementary School's new parking lot and expanded campus access, providing improved traffic circulation, ADA accessibility, upgraded lighting, and a completely modernized stormwater system that exceeded the original project scope while remaining within the overall bond program budget.

  • District-wide investments in mechanical controls, irrigation improvements, and future athletic field development that will continue improving operational efficiency and student opportunities throughout the district.

One of our favorite stories featured in this edition highlights the district's decision to invest in a championship-caliber hammer and discus throwing facility at Elmira High School. Already during its first summer, the facility has hosted national-level athletes, training camps, and international competitors while providing Elmira students one of the safest throwing environments available. It's a great example of looking beyond immediate needs to create lasting value for students and the community.

Throughout this bond program, Fern Ridge has intentionally focused on projects that students use every day. Updated learning environments, improved accessibility, expanded recreation opportunities, safer campuses, and long-term infrastructure investments all contribute to schools that better support learning and strengthen community pride.

At R&C Management Group, we believe successful capital programs aren't measured solely by completed projects. They're measured by how well communities stay informed, engaged, and connected throughout the process.

Congratulations to Superintendent Gary Carpenter, the Fern Ridge School District Board of Directors, Bond Oversight Committee, staff, and project partners on the tremendous progress being made. We look forward to celebrating the completion of the remaining bond projects in 2026.
